Dalijah found the need to start Black Girls Pole because she felt there was not enough representation in the pole industry.. As a member of the pole community, she wanted to empower more BIPOC women to start pole dancing and provide them with a platform to be seen, elevated and celebrated.

Since its inception in 2014 , Black Girls Pole has gone on to host events and retreats around the world from London to Bermuda to Costa Rica and built a community of over 140K followers of all colors, shapes and sizes!

Our Team

Social Media & Member Support

Karmen (She/Her) - @pfoxxpole

Karmen (aka Fifi) is our social media and member support maven. Fifi joined team BGP in early 2024 to help shape Connect Cities. She’s been poling for about 5 years, instructing low flow pole classes for 2 years, and lives for a good ol’ Drop Split and most Teddy variations. Her main values include authenticity, community, and personal growth. As a former tech industry recruiter, she’s repurposed her skills to interview guests on The POLERizing Topics Podcast. When she’s not teaching, performing, or interviewing, Fifi can most likely be found behind a keyboard knocking down countless projects as a Content Strategy solopreneur.

Operations

Tara (She/They) - @tara_travels_

As our tech and coordination executive, Tara assists with the day to day operations of BGP. They are the behind the scenes person. From building and working on our platforms, to assisting with products and launches, there isn’t much Tara isn’t working on. They been with Team BGP for almost 4 years and have an extensive background working in tech, marketing, and operations. Their main values include integrity, compassion, creativity, and freedom. What they love most about working with BGP is seeing the genuine connections that are made through all the avenues BGP offers - that and witnessing a community of the most talented individuals in this industry. Tara’s been pole dancing for 11 years and their favorite moves are the Pretzel and Ayesha. When they aren’t glued to their desk, Tara also travels full time in her RV with their husband and has been known to occasionally interview leaders in our industry on their podcast, The Aerial Hour.

She currently works in Customer Growth Marketing for a startup in Denver, Colorado. Her values include preparedness, creating bonds, learning new things, and giving things her best effort. What she loves most about BGP is “The ambition, drive and passion that fuels each person in their own unique and creative way. Support staff

Siena Berhe - @tselim.hourglass

Siena joined Team BGP when she assisted in creating Black Girls Pole Connect. Once BGPC launched it was a smooth transition to lead the way for PoleCon 2022 and so much more. As Support Staff, Siena jumps into any project she is needed for. Her values include honesty, peace, success and stability. She says what she loves most about working for BGP is “I'm working for someone who looks like me, knows what they want, and has big vision goals on where BGP is going to go.” She’s been poling on and off for over 10 years and as a lazy poler her favorite pole move is a pole sit to a plank hold. Outside of her pole pursuits, Siena empowers BIPOC businesses by crafting websites, providing virtual assistant services, and more helping them thrive in the digital world (learn more, here).

Showcase producer

Keke - @keke_savage213

Keke is our BGP Showcase Producer. Certified as a XPERT Pole instructor and Twerk Technician, she lives her life to the fullest and is never afraid to try something new, making her a perfect fit for the role as she is no stranger to wearing many hats and being a creative problem-solver. She values being self-aware and body positive. Throughout her pole journey she has had to “learn how valuable self awareness and body positivity are as well as how much they go hand in hand”. Keke loves BGP for bringing awareness to pole dancers of color and how the BGP retreats center people of color and their love for pole, while also giving opportunities to experience different places and cultures. In Dallas, TX, Keke extends her love for pole by managing The Spin Therapy (learn more, here), where she hosts pole parties and rentals. Through her work, Keke spreads the joy of pole dancing, making a positive impact wherever she goes.
