Self Care Tips Black Women Should Be Practicing

Self care is important for everyone, but it's especially crucial for black women. We often face a lot of stress and negativity in the world, so it's important to take time for ourselves to foster positive thoughts and habits. In this blog post, we will discuss 5 self care tips that black women should be practicing. These tips will help you stay positive and healthy!

Self Care Tips Black Women Should Be Practicing

1. Make a list of the things you are grateful for

When you start your day by thinking about the things you're grateful for, it can really set the tone for a positive and productive day. It's important to remember all the good in your life, even when things are tough. So, take a few moments each morning to think about what you're grateful for.

You can also keep a gratitude journal to write down your thoughts. This is a great way to reflect on the good things in your life, and it can also help you see how far you've come when you look back on old entries.

Some things you may be grateful for include: your health, your family and friends, your job, your home, your pets, etc.

Taking the time to appreciate the good in your life will help you feel more positive and motivated throughout the day.

2. Say no!

One of the best things you can do for your mental health is to learn how to say no. It’s easy to take on too much, but as we all know this can be really detrimental to our own well-being.

And friends, saying no doesn't make you a bad person. In fact, it's actually a sign of strength. It shows that you know your personal limits and that you're not afraid to put yourself first.

I know first hand how difficult it can be. In fact, I actually recorded an episode of The Black Girl Fit Files about this very topic. Check it out here.

The goal is to start saying no to the things that don't make you happy or fulfilled. You'll be surprised how much better you'll feel when you do!

3. Incorporate healthy habits daily - waking up early or going on morning walks

One of the best ways to take care of yourself is to incorporate healthy habits into your daily routine. This can be something as simple as going for a morning walk or cooking yourself a healthy breakfast instead of grabbing something on the go. Find what works for you and do whatever you can to make it a priority.

Some other healthy habits you can incorporate into your routine include: drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly.

Making small changes in your daily routine can have a big impact on your overall health and well-being. So, start today and see how you feel!

4. Get Rid of the negative - this doesn’t just mean people.

It's important to get rid of the negative influences in your life and friends, this doesn't just mean people. It can also be things like scrolling through social media before bed or first thing in the morning, or not taking care of yourself.

All it takes is seeing one negative post on social media to ruin your mood for the day. Don’t think twice about removing someone from your feed that makes you feel bad every time you see them.

Spend time with friends and family who make you feel good about yourself. Avoid spending time with people who are always complaining or putting you down.

When you surround yourself with positive people and things, it's much easier to stay positive yourself.

5. Find moments of Joy Daily -

One of the best ways to stay positive is to find moments of joy every day. This can be something as small as taking a few minutes for yourself to do your skincare routine (my personal go to - check MadHippie for amazing skincare products), or taking a break for movement.

Whatever you do, find things that make you happy and then find a way to incorporate it into your daily life. Having something to look forward to makes it easier to stay motivated. Am I right?

These are just a few self care tips that black women can use to practice self care. Taking care of yourself is so important, and it's something that you should make a priority. So, take some time for yourself today and start practicing these tips! You deserve it!
